Sólheimajökull

Solheimajokull was not on our list of places to stop, but when we saw it along the highway we said to the girls that there was a glacier on the side of the road and they replied "What is a glacier?"  We knew we needed to stop.  While kids can visit the glacier by walking along the trail they cannot walk on top of the glacier as that requires special grips and ropes and you need to be on a guided tour for that experience.  The girls were thrilled despite the restrictions.
