Battle of the Nations
Hello! How are you? I hope you are all doing well. We are back from our 8-day adventure to Poland. On our way to Poland, we stopped overnight in the city of Leipzig. Our son Winston, served part of his mission in this city last year and those who he met were gracious hosts. Battle of the Nations is a monument to commemorate those who lost their lives in the battle of 1813 against Napoleon. It was the beginning of the end of Napoleon and his reign. The monument was built in 1913 to mark the 100-year anniversary. It is very impressive and offers a fantastic view of the city from the top.

What a wonderful 8-day adventure that has been!
From the photos it looks like the weather was good.
Great history lessons to absorb for all visiting and for remembering.
Both of us never have been to Poland, even with the fact that back then, Pieter's book got published in Poland and its royalties could not be taken out of Poland... Pieter never made it there so they never paid. Hope they put his teachings to good use!
We just yesterday received some horror photos + video from our German son's in-laws that got severely affected by the flooding in the Eifel area. The River Erft did that... all people that did not sleep upstairs, drowned as it happened so fast. All their furniture, cars, whatever is trash now... The forces of water cannot be dealt with.
They are staying now with our German son who lives higher up in the Eifel. Such sadness and for cleaning up all the rubbish is heart breaking!
Hope it will not happen again with heavy rain and rising water.
Hugs,
Mariette
Have a good time!
