South Korea

  •

  • Dinner Eunhee and Brian invited me to.
  • N-Seoul Tower with Eunhee and Brian.
  • Blue House, administrative buildings for the President (equivalent to the U.S. White House)
  • Papa in the President's office and in front of the grand staircase
  • Blue House residency (wooden structures)
  • Changing of the guards at Gyeongbokgung Palace
  • Gyeongbokgung Palace, including the throne room
  • Papa is wearing traditional hanbok clothing. I dressed up [you can rent them for a few bucks]; free entrance comes with wearing traditional clothing. I also asked for the nobleman/scholar edition, which you can see in the embroidery.
  • Hanbok village = traditional Korean village
  • Jogyesa Temple = Buddhist Temple
  • The old central train station was built by the Japanese during the occupation; the architecture shows the German influence
  • While we were in Germany, Frank went to Seoul, South Korea for work.  He had a lovely time.

Dearest Kelleyn,
No doubt Frank had a good time — despite being separated from family. We both have known that feeling all too well!
Pieter went as Ambassador to East Asia for 3 weeks in 1987 to visit and lecture at Universities on behalf of the Mushroom Industry.

Would have loved to join him but it was impossible...
Hugs,
Mariette
