Butzbach
My favorite thing about Germany is the small towns or villages. Butzbach is located only 35 kilometers north of Frankfurt. They have the most character to them. Most of Germany's large cities such as Frankfurt were bombed during the war so you will find very little of the original architecture that was there prior to the war. While some cities rebuilt in the same style others replaced the typical Hansel and Gretel style buildings with functional architecture of the 70's-yuck! The town is over 1200 years old. The best time to go is on a Saturday morning when the market area is filled with fresh food stalls, and in the fall you will find the local apple farmers pressing the apples into the best apple juice you have ever tasted.
