Paris Day 2
Hello! It has been a crazy few days as we have tried to squeeze as much as possible before my mom and Winston head back to the States. We have finally gotten some beautiful weather, and exploring has been fun. On our second day in Paris, we intended to go to the Monet museum, but then we discovered all the museums closed on Tuesday. Ugh! We switched gears and headed over to the Eifel Tower. We hadn't intended to visit it but found the tower would be decorated for the Olympics. This was fun to see. Afterward, we walked over to the Tuileries and went to Angelina's, where we all got a pastry.
The cafe had a long wait, but we got ours to go and sat in the park. Ivy rode the carousel, and then we went to the Louver to take a picture. Those pictures must be on my mom's camera roll, as I can't find them. Then, it was time to eat a late lunch or early dinner; sadly, we didn't choose well. The food was so gross. We only had one good meal in Paris, except for the one we cooked ourselves. The pastries are fantastic, but the options for tourists were limited and of poor quality. I wish I had known someone who lived there who could have taken us to a delicious restaurant the locals visit. After dinner, we headed to the Arc de Triumph since it was so close. Strangely, the city wasn't too crowded with tourists. Then we headed to the train station as we were staying out by the airport because we would pick up our car the following morning. Well, I hope you are having an enjoyable summer. Talk soon!
Comments
You at least managed to do several things despite the museums being closed.
Those pâtisserie choices look all yummy.
Guess, not being local and knowing your way and not being fluent in French always is a bummer in food choices.
Of course it is not 'yet' crowded with tourists as in Europe the school vacation is way behind that of the USA.
Enjoy your travels.
Hugs,
Mariette
