Malahide Castle

 

Hello! Before moving on to France, I should also return to my mother and Roman's last day in Ireland. Just 9 miles north of Dublin, Malahide Castles sits on 260 acres.  This castle was built in 1185 when Richard Abbot, a knight, traveled with King Henry II to Ireland. The castle has remained in the Talbot family except for a short time during the Oliver Cromwell Era.  Today the Castle and Gardens belong to the state of Ireland. The tour through the castle takes around 45 minutes and depending on your enthusiasm for beautiful gardens you can spend anywhere from an hour or more.  The blue and white carpet featured in the above photos is original.  The castle is very well decorated.  The ground contains also a cafe and shop.  My mother said it was well worth visiting.
