A Step Back in Time Cork to Adare

I am totally going to give my age away by revealing that I was raised on movies like the Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara and Darby O'Gill and the Little People. My kids just watched for the first time The Gnome-Mobile and loved it! It is bringing me so much joy that the girls are starting to get old enough to watch movies that I grew up watching and they enjoy them too. I think they have watched the Parent Trap three or four times now. Some of these movies their grandmother watched when she was a young girl. We are connecting the generations!  I am excited that she is going to teach them how to crochet when we get home. Sadly, I never took too crocheting, knitting, or sewing.  The perfectionist in me just won't let me. I get too frustrated when I have worked on a row and then it is all crooked.  Cooking and Photography is more my speed!  Anyway, I am getting sidetracked.  As we were making our way north-west we stopped in the town of Adare, Ireland.  Adare is like stepping back in time.  The village is full of thatched covered roofed homes.  While we didn't have a lot of time to spend in Adare, we did make time to eat in the Blue Door Cafe!  The food was so good!

These photos are beautiful. You hit the jackpot this day on the weather, didn't you? Those glorious skies! I love the colorful houses along the canal and then those adorable storybook houses and the blue door resto too! Oh, biggest armchair travel sigh here!

Thanks for coming over to Marmelade Gypsy (and Leatherman Tree, too!)! It's so nice to see you and I really appreciated your comments on both!

This is right before going to bed for me, so I'll read your post tomorrow or Sunday (because I want to enjoy it, not just skim it!), but just wanted to get back about the hutong. For some it's painful and/or embarrassing to see poverty. Was that the reason?

Oh wow! What a gorgeous blog you have. Thank you so much for your visit and comment. Ireland is on my bucket list. Your photos make me want to go there even more. I'm just starting to post my European travel posts on Monday. I'm still sorting through 7,000+ photos.

...wonderful architecture, love the 'rainbow row.'
It does look like you stepped back in time and I am expecting Maureen O'Hara to step out a door. Beautiful day to have fun outside with glorious blue skies and white clouds.
