Have you ever seen the movie Mona Lisa Smiles with Julia Roberts? If you have then you will remember the scene where Julia is in the classroom and she asks her students " What is art?" The students give her some text book answer of what are is, but she challenges them to look beyond what was once defined as art and to consider a new style of painting art. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying my photographs are art, but I think photos of food are beautiful! I love looking at cookbooks and magazines. I love food, but it is more than that. In collage and high school I took art history classes. I always loved the still life paintings of food. Did you know some of the earliest still life paintings of food go back as far as 70 A.D. and are found in Pompeii, Rome? Cooking is my canvas. I love combining different colors and textures to create a master piece. I may not be able to paint, but I can cook and I love looking at pictures of food.
Sunny Day Orange Julius
16 oz fresh squeezed orange juice
Ice
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp vanilla pudding powder
1/4 sugar (depending on the sweetness of your oranges, we've added more or less)
Place all ingredients in the blender and blend. Simple! Easy Peasy! Enjoy!
My heart and prayers go out to the families affected by the bombings at yesterdays Boston Marathon.

Your still lives do just what your words describe, at the same time in their stillness they are full of Life!!
The Italian Wedding Soup photo takes the cake!!
(my favorite expression lately, a little corny but somehow maybe living in Japan and away from English, some of the old time expressions have a fun and fresh quality!!) ♡
