White "Corner View"

Almond Butter Tort
2 eggs
1 stick of butter
1 cup of flour
1 teaspoon of almond or vanilla extract
1 cup of sugar and some for sprinkling over top
1/2 cup of slivered almonds and sugar
In a mixing bowl cream butter and sugar together then add extract, eggs, and then flour. Spread mixture on a greased and parchment lined spring form pan-but can use regular cake pan. Sprinkle slivered almonds on top along with a dusting of sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until done in center and light brown on top. This cake is my secret weapon. It is so easy to make and so elegant. Want to make it even more fantastic serve it over top your favorite fruit puree and serve with a dollop of whip cream. This cake is always a crowd winner. My dear friend made this for me ten years ago when I had my first baby, and I have been making it ever since. Little fact about our family is that we drink 6 gallons of milk a week that makes a little over a gallon per person. We love the white stuff and obviously can't get enough. "Got Milk?" I cannot imagine 6 gallons. :) We used to go through 1 every week or so. Now with one that needs whole milk, we have 1 gallon of whole, 1 gallon of skim every week or two. I guess we drink lots of water? (Boring).

The cake looks delicious...the almonds look so yummy.

Do you like white chocolate? I'm not a big fan of Milky Bars, but I like white chocolates when they have a dark truffle filling.

I always drink a lot of milk when pregnant. When not only together with pancakes or cinnamon buns. That cake looks delicious. I love almond and nut cakes.

Looks quite tasty... you couldn't even fit one gallon of milk in the refrigerators over here much less six of them. I really miss my milk... here it tastes quite sweet which I am not used to.

Wow, that's a lot of milk! We buy 3 different kinds in our house. My husband drinks organic cow milk, the boys love Silk soy milk, and I prefer Almond Breeze. :)

now we're talking. this looks amazing. and, 6 gallons of milk every week? goodness. we're lucky if we go through 1 gallon. my little son is mildly lactose intolerant, like his dad, and my daughter has to balance it out with lots and lots of milk-drinking. she'd fit right into your family.

p.s. in answer to the question about the quinoa, the answer is YES my family will eat it. in fact, they love it. there are only a few of our little friends who do not like quinoa. it's definitely got flavor, but it also takes on the taste of whatever you cook into it. try it-worst comes to worst, you can eat it yourself.
