A Recount of our Daily Life

Hello! This post might be rather dull, but I am writing it to record our daily life for future reference and to remember this season of our lives.  Our lives are not much different than others, but this season of life will eventually change as everything changes. First, an update on Oakley.  She is almost 3 months old now.  She has grown so much since we got her; she is now 11 pounds.  She is still very much a puppy.  She loves chewing on anything she can get her teeth on and isn't 100% potty trained.  We are working on that and are assured by the vet that it will come soon enough.  We all adore her and are so happy that she is in our lives.

Monday:  Monday is my grocery shopping day.  I usually head to the store around 9 a.m. and get all the groceries for the rest of the week, though I usually find myself going at least one other time during the week to get things I have forgotten, didn't know we needed, or to buy additional items if I change the menu.  I don't have an official calendar of what I plan on making each day, but I have a rough idea of what I want to make for the week.  I am making pulled pork sandwiches with some premade meat I got at Costco tonight.  After school, I sat down with Avery and Ivy as they played piano. We did some water coloring, ate red velvet waffles, and drank hot cocoa.  Addy was still at school.  On Monday nights, I take Roman to boxing from 7:30-8:00 p.m. When we get home, I start getting everyone ready for bed, including myself, though I generally don't sleep until at least 11 p.m.

Tuesday: I took Roman to the Orthodontist, followed by a stop at Whole Foods to get some salmon for a dish I wanted to make called Coconut Curry Salmon.  It was really good.  I dropped Roman off at school and went home to make lunch/dinner for Frank and me.  I made something different for the kids. Tuesday is piano lesson day.  I drop the girls off at the conservatory at 4:15 and pick them up at 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday: I took Oakley to the vet at 8:30 a.m. and had to scramble to get there because I thought our appointment was at 9:30 a.m.  Thank goodness for text messaging appointment reminders.  We made it there just in time, and all is good with Oakley.  After her appointment, it was a nice day, so I took Oakley for a walk through the neighborhood.  Oakley was a little sleepy from her shots, so she had a good nap when we got home. When the girls got home from school, we discovered that two of them had lice, so I had to rush to CVS, pick up a treatment kit, and spend the next 5 hours combing through their hair.  Addy had Young Women's, so she played basketball at the church. She had a great time.

Thursday: Avery and Ivy stayed home from school. We could also not get an appointment at the Lice Treatment Center, which stinks. I spent the majority of the day washing. I had to strip all the beds, bag the stuffed animals, and wash all the coats. I took Addy to basketball practice.

Friday: Spent the morning finishing up all the wash and then took the girls to the lice clinic.  Despite my efforts to treat them, Avery and Ivy still had lice, and I also got myself checked. I am thankful that I didn't have lice.  We grabbed some lunch at Chick-fil-A and headed home where I watched an episode of Happy Valley a British Crime TV show. I also read the scripture set for Sunday's Sunday school class. We had the missionaries over for dinner. Elder Shumway is from Arizona, and Elder Moss is from Colorado.  We enjoyed Tacos and Spanish Rice.  Who doesn't love Tacos?

Saturday: I got up early because Addy and the neighbor girl had a lacrosse clinic at the local high school.  After dropping them off, I ran home to get Roman and took him to boxing.  While he was at boxing, I ran to Target to get him some underwear and pick up the ingredients for Irish Stew.  It was so good. When I got home, I made a loaf of bread and made the stew while the girls played with their friend Kelly. Frank was at work all day Saturday as he had classes to teach.

Sunday: Church day for our family.  We have 9 a.m. church this year, so getting up and out the door is kind of a struggle.  We made it through.   We spoke with my mom and Winston.  He is doing well.  He just moved apartments and is much happier with his new living situation.  At the same time, Frank spoke with his mom.  In the evening, we went to a music concert at a local church.  Our neighbor's daughter was performing at the concert.  It was really nice.  I am grateful the girls are starting to get old enough to attend functions like this. Then it was time for bed.  Well, I need to run.  I have some bread and want to get started and put some clothes in the dryer. I must also do a few other things before the girls leave school.  Hope you have a lovely week.

Dearest Kelleyn,
Such type of diary will one day be very valuable for the family!
Glad Oakley is growing well and above all—is healthy.
All seems to go well and in a fast—growing tempo it seems—minus the lice encounter.
Hoping that is now way past ya'll.
Oakley indeed has grown a lot in the last picture with Addy, if I'm not mistaken.
Big hugs,
Mariette

Maybe your life is STILL a bit different than that of others - at least in other parts of the world ;-) Anyway, I read it with interest. And I'm in love with your sweet little dog - and the giraffe-paitings! ❤️
ALL THE BEST from Austria, have a good February,
Traude
