Tuesday some things to share

My new hair is a dream. On Saturday, I forked over the money to have my hair straightened. I love it! It isn't permanent. It last about 4-5 months and shorter if you spend a ton of time in salt water, but I promise you I won't be doing that.  The treatment my hair is called a Keratin treatment. It is protein that they put on your hair. I have no idea how it works, but it does.  My hair is super soft and much more manageable. The one thing it does not do is make your hair completely straight. You will have some curl in your hair, but instead of 1 hour flat ironing it you will only spend 15 minutes.  The reason I did it was because it will be super hot and sticky and my hair becomes a total mess.  It look like I stuck my hair in the light socket.  Also, living in Europe is a little slower.  Everything takes just a little bit longer.  Instead of shopping weekly, you shop daily.  Laundry takes forever to do, so I thought not having my hair to worry about was totally worth the money.  Sadly, it is not cheap.  Since my hair is long it cost $400.  I had to save my pennies for a while in order to afford this; but I would do it again.

I have been wanting to share with you a bunch of things that I have discovered.  One is my big love for Etsy.  Which I know I have mentioned in a couple of previous post.  What I love it that the items are unique and homemade.  I love that I am supporting someones small business.  Here are some of the things that I have recently purchased.

Recently for the play room I purchased a print of a VW bus and a sign that was made of old barn would that reads in yellow "You are My Sunshine.  Check out Sasha's shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/Lemonademakinmama?ref=em
Her shop is a little empty right now, but I know good things are just around the corner, so you should check back.

Then I purchased a necklace that I can't wait to wear from http://allorahandmade.com/

Baby girl wouldn't look adorable without these to adorn her head http://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleLovesDesigns?ref=seller_info
Addy will wear her headband Easter morning.

I love my camera, so I bought it a new strap cover.  http://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleLovesDesigns?

Then I bought two dresses for Addy from this shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/SmashedPeasNCarrots?page=1

Maggie was so quick in sewing up the dresses and getting them to me.  You can tell she loves to sew by looking at the dresses.  They are so adorable.

I have bought a few other things, but then we might be here all night.  I just want your to know I was not paid to give a shout out to these shops, but wanted to do so because I am so happy with the items I have purchased.

A couple of other things that I have bought and love are: a necklace from Lisa http://www.lisaleonardonline.com/fine-pewter-C46.aspx

I also bought a new camera bag because I didn't like my camera flapping around with all the baby stuff.  I was afraid that milk would leak on it, and I can't tell you how many times I have gone a trip recently and left behind an SD card, a lens cap, or the charger.  Now everything is in one place.  Check out these bags.  I love that it is sturdy and sits upright when you sit it down.  The dividers are pretty firm in the bags, so your stuff doesn't slide around.   http://www.emerabags.com/product/m-circle.html

While I am at it and really should be in bed because I am driving to North Carolina tomorrow, but hate going to bed early I want to share this book with you.  It is called Red Scarf Girl.  My son had to read it for his Literacy class.  I love it!    It is about a girl is growing up at the beginning of Communist China.  It is very similar to the book Wild Swan, but meant for the teen reader.  It speaks from the perspective of a child.  It doesn't take very long to read and gives you a good insight on how it might feel to live during that time period.

OK, I better get going.  Hope you have a lovely day!

You and your hair are beautiful!! I think this is the treatment the gal I work for does. I lost most of my curls a few years ago when I was sick, now I wish I had them. Isn't that weird the things I did to straighten my hair before. :) Safe travels. I too love Etsy and try to buy most of my gifts for me and others there. xo

Happy easter!
I have had that done once and loved it...my hair is shorter and thinner so it was less....but living in a humid climate it's so much easier. I wish i had it done before moving to Germany it would have save a lot of bad hair days! Love Etsy shops you found some great items! Have a wonderful travel and Easter.
