Ljublicana

Hi!  Hope you had a good week!  We are on our way to Sardinia today.  We drove from Frankfurt to Zurich where we had lunch with my friend Anita and her family and then spent the night in Genoa and are taking a ferry later today to Sardinia.  We will arrive in Sardinia on Monday morning and make our way to our hotel.  I am so excited.  I have heard so many good things about Sardinia.  Anyway,  I had a handful or more photos left over and I wanted to share those with you before we move onto the next destination.  Honestly, I can't say enough about Slovenia and what a wonderful experience I had there.  I know I said all this in a previous post, but honestly, the people are so friendly, helpful, and the food is amazing.   I wish that I could have stayed longer as I would have loved to have visited the Julian Alps and even maybe travel to the eastern part of the country.

Things to do in Lubjiana:

1) Visit St. Nicholas Church of Lubjiana.  I did not take pictures of the inside, but the ceiling is incredible.

2) Eat amazing food!!!

I can't remember the name fo the place where I ate the salad, but it is only a few restaurants down from where I ate the pasta which was at Marley and Me!  Who doesn't love broccoli, walnuts, and gorgonzola?  I thought I had died and went to heaven.  I also ate at a fast food Chinese restaurant for lunch one day at a place called the Wok!  It was pretty good.  The best ice cream can be found at Vigo or at  Cocoa.  Yum! Yum!  Yum!

3) Walk across the Dragon Bridge and enjoy the view of the river and local cafes that line the river.

4) Take a ride down the Ljubljanica for 10 euros it was a nice way to spend an hour soaking up the beautiful sunny day!

5) Visit the farmers market.  You can even get fresh milk and Yogurt out of the vending machines.  Warning * when I say fresh I really mean fresh as the milk is not pasteurized.

6) Take a walk or even a picnic through Tivoli Park.

7) Visit the National Museum or the National Art Gallery.

8) Walk across Butchers Bridge and enjoy the sculptures by artist Jakov Brdar.  The sculptures are from Ancient Greek mythology and Christian mythology.

9) Stroll through the city and Enjoy all the amazing architecture.  Wish I could have afforded a stay at the Union Hotel.  I took a peek and the inside is incredible and takes you brings you back to the 1920"s.

I loved all the detailing on the outside of this building and its unique shape.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my little tour through Ljubliana.  It really is worth visiting. See you back soon.

Wow! A lot to do here - did you sprint through the town? A first for me - non-pasteurized milk from a vending machine!!!

By the way, I may not be commenting as often for the next few weeks since I will have my in-laws visiting from the UK. We are going to have a great time!
Yes, I did enjoy this little tour and how lucky that the weather cooperated on your visit. I really liked the architecture and agree that the food looks amazing even in the photos and am sure it tasted even better!
What a beautiful place! Have a great day dear! xx
