One last Hurrah!

Last week, I took the boys up to Lake Lanier to go camping with some good friends from church. The boys had a blast. Personally, it was a little too hot to camp for me, and I am grateful I brought my extension cord and fan; otherwise, we would have never fallen asleep. After setting up the tents, all the children ran across the street to jump in the lake. By the time they came back, our tin foil dinners were finished. Then it was back to the lake until almost all the last rays of the sun were gone. What camping trip would be a camping trip without Smore's? Yummy! I don't think any of us escaped from being a little sticky. We made attempts to tell ghost stories, but we had all forgotten them. (Note to self, next time we go camping to look in the library for campfire storybook.) I had some sparklers left over from the forth of July, and these turned out to be a big hit. When the boys saw the images that were caught in the camera, they wanted to see what effect flashlights would have. Then it was time for bed. Emma wanted to sleep in our tent. She made Roman's day. He had so much fun playing with her, and her horses earlier in the evening. Plus she is just his right size. When Harris couldn't sleep because his spot wasn't cozy I switched with him. I felt a little like the princess and the pea except in my story it was a rock. There was nothing I could do about it without waking up all the children to move the tent. On top of that, it is really noisy here in Georgia at night with the crickets chirping, and the Cicadas making their thrill of ttttch tttch sound all night long. Morning came way to fast, and the first thing all the kids did was jump back in the lake until the call for breakfast of bacon, fried eggs, donuts, and chocolate milk. Before we left we celebrated the end of summer and going back to school with silly string. Yahoo! While I have had fun with my children this summer, I am ready for them to go back to school in 6 days. This week we will attend 3 open houses and do some last minute school shopping. It is hard to believe that I am the mother of a middle schooler. How is that possible? I just graduated from high school yesterday. No, not really, but it seems that way to me.

What a great trip, it made me laugh when you described how everyone had forgotten the ghost stories...ins't that typical, it's the same with Christmas carols. Good luck with school start, it's also nice when everything settles into the everyday life again.
