Day 7 Belver Castle, Palma, and Flemenco Dancing
Above the city of Palma, the Bellver Castle sits. Built in the Gothic style in the 14th century, it served as the home of many of the Kings of Mallorca, but later became a prison. It is one of the only circular castles in Europe. Below the castle is a stunning view of the city. In 1931, the Spanish Second Republic granted the castle to the city of Palma, and it now houses a historical museum. Before going to the castle, we went to the farmers' market. Having enjoyed our cooking class so much, Buffi wanted to pick up some bread, tomatoes, garlic, cheese, and ham to recreate the tapas we'd had the day before. Which we later enjoyed for dinner that evening. I purchased a very delicious pastry. After going to the castle, we went to Old Town, where we spent the afternoon shopping. Buffi found some cute hats for her grandsons, and I purchased some Mallorca perfume. In the evening, we attended a Flamenco Dance performance. It was fascinating. The dance is very intense. I wish they had explained the story behind each dance.
