A Day in Barcelona
As I sit here editing photos and creating this post, it is 36 degrees outside, and the snow is coming down. Doesn't look like it is going to stick. Too cold for me though! I would fly south if I could, but 6 1/2 years before my last child leaves the house, and I can move south. Before heading home, we stopped for one day in Barcelona. We left Mallorca early on Friday morning and flew to Barcelona for a 50-minute flight. Once we arrived at the airport in Barcelona, we took a taxi to our hotel and were able to check in early, thankfully. It was nice not to have to carry our luggage around. Then we took a train into the city. The train ride was less than 30 minutes. When we came out of the train station, we were right at one of the houses that Gaudà renovated and designed. The exhibit was fantastic! We spent about 2 hours there before heading over to the famous La Sagrada Familia. Unfortunately, the tickets were sold out. I should have known better, as it is one of Barcelona's top tourist destinations. So, sadly, we didn't get to go inside. Ugh! Then it was time for lunch.
Buffi discovered this really yummy Italian restaurant just a block up from the church. The line to get it was too long, but they were willing to make us some food and pack it up to go! We found another cafe where we bought a drink and used their table to eat. The owners were from Sicily. Then it was off to Parc Guille! That was a trek. I suggest anyone reading this take a taxi because the subway doesn't go all the way to the park, and the hike up there is brutal. After going to the park, I was tired, so we went back to the hotel. I wish that I had more energy, as there was so much more to see, but it will have to wait for another visit. I am so grateful I was able to go on this adventure with my bestie! I am so blessed to have such a good friend.
