This is the Place Heritage Park

After Joseph Smith Jr. was killed, the Church of Jesus Christ members were driven from their homes in Nauvoo, Illinois. They moved west until they reached the Great Salt Lake Valley where their new leader and prophet Brigham Young declared this the place. This is the place heritage park is located in the foothills of Salt Lake City and is a park that teaches big and small about the struggles of the early pioneers to Utah, the trek to Utah, and those who served in the Mormon Battalion.  The girls at first didn't want to go because they imagined they would be bored, but we actually had to pull them away at the end of the day.  One of their favorite activities was mining for gold.  Sadly, we ran out of time to ride the ponies.  This park is well worth the visit.

Dearest Kelleyn,
Oh, one cannot imagine the hardships those early Utah settlers endured but in Faith they endured it.
Glad that the girls enjoyed it and no doubt will have learned a lot from it.
Hugs,
Mariette
