Hiking in North Georgia

Only a little more than an hour north of our house, located in the North Georgia Mountains, are many family-friendly hikes.  Today we choose to go to Anna Ruby Falls, my thought was that it was a good starting point for the girls.  Ivy for the most part out of her stroller climbed the whole way.  We are so proud of her.  The hike round-trip is only a half mile and is a paved pathway making it super easy to hike.  We have been many times, but we thought it would be a nice way to spend the Memorial Day Holiday.   Afterward, we stopped to have lunch in Helen then headed home to spend a relaxing evening watching a movie. Watched the old version of Karate Kid with Roman while the girls played outside on the deck riding their bikes and making forts with the pillow cushions from the couch. Has anyone noticed Addy lost her two front teeth?  They fell out last weekend.  What did you do for Memorial Day?  Did you do anything fun?

That's a part of the States I've never visited. Growing up in California we always concentrated on the west. Both parents were educators, but my dad was an administrator and only had one month of vacation each summer. - Margy
Sounds like an idyllic day! Lovely photos.

It sounds like you enjoyed yourselves.
We will be traveling to GA next on our current southern U.S. road trip, but won’t be doing any hikes. Too hot right now and we’re currentkynin TN. Our Memorial Day was spent on the road traveling from KY to TN.

A trail full of wonders! So many beautiful surprises. The picture of the children is adorable. I think kids are even cuter with missing front teeth. Looks like you had a great weekend!

Thanks for the visit. I hope to see you again. So beneficial for children to be out in nature. I remember a hike with one of my daughters when she was eleven. She stopped by a small waterfall and had a tear rolling down her face. Concerned I asked what was wrong? Her reply was “nothing. It is just so beautiful”.

The trees are so much further ahead than here on the east coast. Some trees are beginning to have a hint of green now.

This area is glorious and and the company was perfect!

I visited a Ruby Falls in Tennessee, but not this Ruby in Georgia. It certainly looks equally precious.

Many years ago a friend (another single mother) and I took a camping trip with our 2 sons who were best friends...and we played around rock-hopping in various streams below falls. Don't know that we could do it here, but we did visit Anna Ruby Falls. Thanks for visiting my blog, and I agree 100% with your comment.

It's wonderful to expose kids to these experiences as youngsters; hopefully they will enjoy it for the rest of their lives. Hard to believe, but many "city" kids have never been on a nature hike! Memorial Day for us was a quiet one around the house - I was thrilled to get a day that I could spend in the garden, weeding and transplanting and such! Enjoy the rest of your week!
That is a beautiful hike! Perfect distance too. Looks like the girls enjoyed it very much. The blue butterfly is gorgeous.
