What I Do When I Am Home Alone "Corner View"

What I do when I am home alone is a funny question because I am not home alone very often though on a rare occasion that I do get an hour or two one of the things I like to do is troll the internet.  This is where my trolling has taken me recently.  When looking for new recipes, I found this recipe for cheese cauliflower, and this one for zucchini fritters looks good.  I have some lentils in my pantry that I need to use and this recipe for lentil salad is right up my alley, and you can never have too many recipes incorporate chocolate.  This past week marked the 25th year anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down and I found this art installation to commemorate the event pretty cool. Yesterday was Veteran's Day here in the United States and Roman came home from school asking if papa's grandfather was a Veteran.  I had to pause a moment because I wasn't sure how much I should tell him.  I simply answered, "Yes." and then he asked me if he died during the war and I said, "No."   He didn't ask any more questions, so I just left it at that, but I felt uncomfortable because my husband is from Germany and that means his grandfather served as a soldier in War World II.  His grandfather died way before I ever met my husband, so I don't know much about him.  What I do know is that he came home a broken man.  My husband and I were talking about it later on and he said he didn't know much about his role in the War as no one ever talked about it for obvious reasons. So complicated!  On a lighter note, have you seen this youtube video from the art installation from the London Tower?  It is beautiful!  I would have loved to have seen it in person.

One more thing I would like to share is this really cool music video by OK Go  I think this band is brilliant.

So this is just one of the ways I spend that free time and other times I watch Downton Abbey, drink a cup of hot cocoa, or take a bubble bath.  Hope you have a great day!

The installation I've seen in pictures. Very interesting and beautiful.

This is very interesting what role have played our grandparents during the war. My grandfather, for example, has been at the front fought in Africa and was then for many years in captivity. It is a great pity that we have not talked so much about that time. But very often the generation of our grandfatherswill / did not want to talk about the war time.

PS. My kids loved the Brussels Sprouts dish. You should make it, it's very gourmet and by the time you've prepared it the sprouts take on a less bitter taste. So good. Talk soon,

it's a difficult legacy. people of my generation in europe have parents born during the war, and grandparents who lived through two word wars. i believe it's important for our future to talk to our children about the past.

My grandparents didn't speak much of the war period. It was a painful time for them. But after the war, they never had hatred towards the Germans. They said that most of the german soldiers were poor guy and didn't want this war.
It's fun because I bought the last OK GO cd two weeks ago ;) I love this band!
