impression "Corner View"

OK, so I told you back here that I was redecorating my bedroom.  It was a pretty sad and lonely space in the house.  I purchased new linens and that was about as far as I got.  Husband nor I have had the time to build the side tables, but I have been looking at art.  Nothing was leaving a lasting impression on me.  Nothing spoke to my heart because it was either too trendy, to tacky, to expensive, and so on.  There are about three walls in the room and one of them is very large.  My neighbor suggested buying a piece of furniture to put against the wall, but I really don't have a need for a piece of furniture such as an armoir.  Plus, I just don't have any money  in my budget right now to buy any furniture.  Then I had the impression that I should use my own photos.  While I am not the best photographer in the world,   I think my photography is better than average.  These are some of the photos I have selected.  My neighbor thinks I should have a pop of color like the flower.  I am leaning towards all black and whites.  I would frame all of these photos with a unifying frame.  What do you think I should do????  Some of you might be wondering why there aren't any photos of the children and that is because I have black and whites of the  children throughout my house.   I even have some water colors that I have picked up from street artist along the way that I might use too.  I love to travel .  So why not display my photos of my travels.

I think that's a GREAT idea! We have so many photos of our travels and I'd love to display them somehow, but it always seems like such a daunting project. I'm glad you're tackling it though. Your photos are great and...what an inspiration! Maybe one of these days I'll do it too! :-)

Thanks Emily ! What do you think a pop of color or all black and white?

I say go for it; it will be beautiful and personal! I'd go for b&w. :-)

i think that's a great idea too--something i've been meaning to do myself for two years now. i'd probably go for color and BW both, depending on the photo. have you considered canvases? i think that would be really nice. and don't be afraid to go BIG! it sounds like you have the wall space to do so. i know they are expensive (which is why we haven't done any yet), but groupon often has canvas deals, which i've been meaning to try to check out the print quality. Canvas on Demand is one that came through recently.

anyway, have been meaning to tell you my husband and i recently went out for our 12 (!) year anniversary. stopped by delancey, but it was closed, and then i remembered your post (yes, i'm a terrible lurker right now) about going to Skillet, so we tried to go there instead. but it was also closed! we ended up at a nice place, but am definitely going to try and make it back to Skillet soon.

You defianey need to go to Skillet. Thanks for the advice.
I love your travel photos and in B&W plus the pops of color. We redid our room over xmas last year and I did a picture wall of our travels and some family pictures...I love it! I say go for it!

I always like B&W's. Because it is the bedroom I would lean towards the flower, still life images.
Although I could lie in bed and dream of Stonehenge, too.

i love the idea. your travel photo's will certainly leave an impression. I like the pop of color idea....your flower photo certainly softens it a bit.

Travel memories are something very beautiful. I like b/w - they are often so special.
I think your photographs would be fabulous on your wall. Either a collection of the b/w ones printed on canvas or the beautiful bright flower really large on its own. We have lots of our photography around the house of the kiddos and landscapes. I'm thinking of getting a selection of fruit and veg photographs on canvas in our kitchen.

Your macaron sounds delicious!!

I also agree with you that it's a good idea (especially your B&W pictures!). We hung some pictures of our travels in our dining room. We change from time to time but it's always nice to see them, it reminds me so many good memories.

Both sound good, but I'd stick with the black and white as those are really fabulous photos as they are. Don't forget to post photos of your room when you're done!

these pictures are really gorgeous to decorate a wall, black and white is perfect, but is a great idea when you occasionally put some photo in red tones for example!!!

Go for it! B & W is good, and be sure they are as big as you can get them without getting grainy.

This is such a great idea, and the photos you chose are fantastic! I really like them all in black and white. And I love decorating my home with my own photos--I think you should decorate with things that have meaning to you. And there are a lot of ideas for portrait wall layouts on Pinterest. Can't wait to see it when it's done!

fabulous idea. you could even have your photos printed on canvas - so no need to add a frame!

OF COURSE you have to display your art, goes without saying!! yes, a patchwork of your most beloved ones (never mind too much the quality, by which i mean, a quirky one here and there make the whole shebang come alive) is a splendid idea and lovely to look up at each morning. and anyway, images can be rehung when you tire of 'em.
good luck, it'll be a job!
