Thankful and Photography

I am so grateful for the ability to continue learning. In September I had the opportunity to take a Photography class from Butler Family Photography. I am finally able to use my camera on a mode other than auto. Yahoo! Though I still have a long way to come when it comes to learning how to adjust my settings for the light; especially evening light. If anyone has any tips I would love them. My photos that are taken in low light or evening light still have a really blue tint to them.

such a great idea to take a class like this... i certainly need to do this. congrats on taking your camera off of auto... a real accomplishment!

(p.s. in the jar: my dry spice rub for meat and veggies. i make a double recipe of it, and it lasts me months!)

that's great, kelleyn! as far as the blue tinge in low light, sounds like you need to be adjusting your white balance. it's kind of a pain, but not too hard, and there should be directions for that in your camera manual. if you happen to have an nikon, i really recommend ken rockwell's printable manuals. his version for my camera is much better than the one that came with it! good luck! i'm looking forward to more photos! :)

These are all beautiful shots...I really love the b & w! I was also going to say it sounds like maybe adjusting your white balance is all you need. There are different white balance settings for full sun, cloudiness, indoors, etc...just play around & see which one makes the image most like natural light. Hope this makes sense. :D Happy Friday!

great pics! You may have already seen these posts but over on the idea room there is a bunch of posts dedicated to photography - I've seen some of them and am pretty sure some of them cover lighting......

Great shots ~ it's such a release to get off auto :D
Regarding the 'blue' tinge, it'll be your white balance that's out I'm sure. Try setting for 'cloudy' ~ that generally warms things up nicely, but better still use a white card. Literally that ~ a white (or light grey) piece of card! You'll need to look at your manual to work out how to set the white balance manually, but it's usually fairly simple :D It's a very useful thing to know how to do!
Have fun ~ and keep learning :D
