Bascilica Cisterns
Happy Friday! I forgot we visited the Basilica Cisterns in Istanbul on the evening of day 1. Built around 527-565 ancient Romans, the cisterns provided water for the people of Istanbul up until 1565. The cistern can store up to around 80,000 tons of water. The cisterns were forgotten and later discovered; today, they are a tourist attraction and museum. Located 150 m below ground, the cisterns are impressive. This treasure of history is a must-visit if you come to Istanbul.
