Mission Complete!

As many of you might remember, my son Winston has been serving a two-year mission for our church The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  On July 21st, Winston completed his two years of service.  He served in the Berlin, Germany Mission.  We have not seen him in those two years only talked via messenger and communicated through emails.  It felt so good to finally be able to hold him in my arms.  I am so proud of him.  He served 3/4 of his first year under Corona restriction which wasn't easy.  I am so proud of his service.  Being a missionary isn't just about converting those to our faith, but serving those within the community that you serve in and also self-conversion.  Since the war broke out in February they spent a lot of time helping the refugees.  In the two years he served, he served in the communities of Leipzig, Chemnitz, Brandenburg an der Havel, Braunschweig, Hildesheim Dresden, and Halle while serving in other communities for a day or two when he was on exchanges.  We couldn't be prouder of him.  He will leave in 3 weeks to attend college.  I am soaking up every minute with him as I know this will probably be the last time he lives at home.

Dearest Kelleyn,
Oh my, that is a LOT of emotions in one moment!
Two years is a long time for Winston's age and he made it on his own.
Lots of reasons for being proud of him and it should be done by a lot more young people.
You certainly look happy for holding him in your arms once more and he was happy to see his sisters!
Hugs,
Mariette
