Apple Picking 20
It seems wrong to go apple picking in 90-degree weather. Boots should be worn and sweaters to the air should be crisp, but in Georgia, if you wait for those circumstances the apples are long gone because they are ripe by August and last into mid-September. The kids love going and we always get apple cider donuts and apple cider to drink. This year we took our neighbor's daughter! Her twin stayed home to work on a zip-line course with her father. It may not have been the best of ideas as everyone and their uncle was there too! I guess all those who didn't go to the beach this labor day headed to the mountains. Over the weekend the kids enjoyed a few last swims in the neighborhood pool, we ate hot dogs and ate ice cream, and we watched Mulan. I think I liked the cartoon version better, but I am glad that my daughters have a role model who looks like them. We also enjoyed watching Ivan and Me! Which of the two, was my personal favorite? I remember Ivan being in the zoo here in Atlanta when we first moved here, so it was sweet to make that connection. The girls were too little to remember him as he died a year after they were born. Well, I better go. I have a massive headache. My son has fallen behind in some of his online classes and he doesn't understand. So I need to fight for him to get more services and see what they can do. They never tell you parenting is going to be so difficult. When they were little, I thought that was difficult but nothing compares to when they are teenagers. It is amazing that anyone survives it! Please don't leave me any comments that it was a piece of cake for you. I don't want to hear it! He isn't a bad kid! He is a pretty awesome kid just a teenager that is all! Have a great week!

Wow, that is exceptional for being able to go apple picking, we're only about 2.5 hours south of you and no way you find ANY here.
Glad your neighbor's half set of twin girls got to enjoy it with yours.
Hope your headache has shrunk by now; no fun! It is a constant battle of injecting enough, or even more, motivation into teenagers! Been there with our deaf and mute (then) foster daughter going through college and later university. It wears you out to coach them to success. We felt proud when she graduated with one point above average and that by reading lips! Later, we found out that an Aussie team in Jakarta did provide the Oticon hearing aids from Denmark. Not realizing that she still could hear some, we deviated from the Cochlear implant. Happy for her.
Sending you hugs,
Mariette
Fruit picking is usually funny and educational!
