The Eagle Has Landed

The Eagle has landed, no I am just kidding; however, my son has arrived in Germany.  He departed Atlanta on Friday with his father and arrived Saturday morning in Frankfurt.  After going through immigration they both headed to an in-airport clinic where they both were given a  medical exam and Covid-19 test.  This was not mandatory, but the German government is now giving all those who arrive from Hot Spots free test if you so choose or you can choose to do a mandatory two-week quarantine.  They got their test results 6 hours later via an email.  Spoke with them on Sunday morning and they were settling in very nicely.  My husband's mother-in-law left a nice strawberry cake in the refrigerator of our apartment and some supplies so the boys were very happy.  After eating breakfast they went for an 11-mile walk with the return to the hausbergturm which is this large tower that you can climb to the top and overlook the valley.  In the meantime, I have had grandma and grandpa keeping me company.  The girls went to the lake with our neighbors which I will have to post another day when I download the pictures.  They had a blast and I was very grateful for the peace and quiet.  I actually used the time to plan how I was going to organize my pantry which seems to always be a mess.  I ended up buying so wicker baskets with liners, some can organizers, and a lazy Susan.  I am not sure if that will get done this week, but at least I will have the supplies to begin.  Well, it is late so I better head to bed.  I hope you are having a wonderful week.  Here are a few photos from my son's last few days here at home.

Dearest Kelleyn,
Happy to know they arrived safe and found a nice surprise in their fridge too!
Quite a hike, but they’re young - at least compared to us.
Okay, we too have arrived at the hotel, after dropping off my MacBook at an Apple related place.
Surprising to find this on the Apple website where they offered several centers where you could set up an appointment for some diagnostics. Hope we can take it home in a couple of days, in good working order.
Had this sudden problem since April 23 but due to my book publishing, worked solely on my Mac in the office.
Got ourselves a keyboard for Pieter’s iPad Pro and that’s what I’m using right now.
The weather luckily did not turn out to be as bad as they said yesterday on TV... exaggerated a lot.
So we have some time to relax and swim, go shopping at the Hilton Head Outlets tomorrow and also do some reading.
Hugs,
Mariette
Such an obvious idea to offer testing rather than mandatory quarantine. Glad they are both okay and that you got some quiet time too!
