Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest day 3
A few months ago on Facebook, a post or advertisement came across my feed for the Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest in Kentucky, so I made a mental note about it. Then a month ago, a friend of mine who lives in Kentucky went to visit this beautiful nature sanctuary and it sealed the deal that we must stop there on our way up north. The cost to get in is $10 per car and the parking is free. There is a small gift shop with a cafe and restrooms. In the gift shop/visitor center, you can acquire a map and head out to see the Giants. The first giant is a short walk, but the other two are much further out and if you have anyone in your party who can't walk very far I would suggest you get back in the car and drive to the other side of the park and park at the parking lots beside these giants. It was super hot, so Nana had a hard time walking. I didn't know that we could drive to the other side and see the giants. I left her and the kids on the bench and walked the half mile to the other giants. The Arboretum is gorgeous. Lots of sculptures mixed throughout the park setting. Perfect for a day hike. I am so glad we went. Afterward, we drove to our friend Stephanie's house where she treated us to a Mexican dinner. More pictures to come on that visit. The kids love her children and everyone was so happy to see each other. Next stop after this is St. Louis!
