And so it goes

Someone told me today that this has been the darkest winter in 50 years. I would totally believe that!  Sometimes,  Gratefully though we have had sunshine the last couple of days which I will take even if it is bitterly cold. I locked us out of the house today. I fell asleep after the girls came home from school. I was so tired. When I woke up, it was time to pick up Ivy from school. In the process of trying to get everyone out the door I left the key in the window along with my wallet and phone. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but when I took the car to the dealership to get repaired they had to take my house key off the ring and I don't do well when my routine gets totally shifted around. Thankfully, my friend was home and so we went to her house until Oma came home from her  meeting. Ugh!  Tomorrow the kids are going to a Fasching Party at the community center.  The children are so excited.  They will have a party in their class next Tuesday. What is Fasching? It is Carnival or Mardi Gras similar to Halloween where everyone dresses in costumes, but no one knocks on the door asking for candy.  I booked a hotel for April to go to Holland.  I can't wait to see all those Tulips!  Well, it is late and I am falling asleep.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  I took these photos the other morning just after it snowed.  Happy Weekend!

How fun! A carnival party in school? Any excuse to celebrate!

I'm so jealous of your trip to Holland to see the tulips. Having seen pictures, they look lovely. It's something I'd love to do one day.

Hope today is better for you. I'm glad you had somewhere to go until you were able to get back in the house. I've definitely locked myself out of the house (with car keys on the ring) before. That's when I got one of those stretchy things you wrap around your wrist for the car keys to attach to. Now I hang my keys on the house door handle and rarely forget them when I walk out the door. Yay for the little things! :)

Just the same here in Finland: It was raining almost over a year until this January. Now it has been snowing and about -10 C and I like it (never thought that would be me saying that :D!)

...perhaps it has been the darkest year, but you still found so much beauty. You just need to look harder when it's dark!

Beautiful photos! I especially love the second one, with the blue sky peeking through the trees. We have had the opposite kind of weather this winter. It's once again sunny and in the 80s here. No one is complaining! It's just strange to be wearing shorts in February. Have a wonderful weekend!

What great fun! And the snow covered trees are fabulous to see, at least for a few days :)
As I read and before I got to it was thinking I would google Fasching, but so glad you explained. To go see the Tulips, awesome. Love your photo sharing.

The Fasching celebration sounds very interesting. Winter looks prettier in your pictures than it sounds from your words ;>)..... I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does silly things when my routine gets disrupted (and I'm glad you had a place to go until you could get into your house -- it wouldn't have been a laughing matter otherwise in that weather!!)

a dark winter, yes. Up in Sweden as well. Hardly any sunny days at all. Longing for spring to arrive.
