Playing in Frankfurt
Hi! How are you? The kids are home from school today. Germany is celebrating the reformation and the day when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses on the castle door of Wittenburg. They don't celebrate it every year, but thought that 500 years was a pretty good date to commemorate. There are celebrations taking place all over Germany. We plan on staying close to home since tomorrow is a school day, but will be heading to town to ride the carnival rides and participate in the fun activities being provided by my mother-in-laws church. The children's cousin is also in town since his school is on fall break. Last week, we had a day where we had nothing to do, so we ran into Frankfurt for the afternoon. I needed to get the girls some new jeans at H&M since they are growing so fast and winter is coming our way, Leggings just don't do the trick when it gets below 50 degrees outside. I have to admit we haven't spent as much time in Frankfurt as I would like and parking is kind of a pain, but I am hoping to change that. Our first stop was the Shirn museum. I was hoping the children would want to participate in the Mini Shirn of the museum which is a combination of day care service mixed with exploration and crafts for children; however, the girls were too scared to stay there on their own and no parents are allowed. The Shirn is a small museum that features just one collection at a time. The collection on display was titled Diorama which I have to say wasn't really my cup of tea. The first few piece were beautiful but the kids were kind of freaked out by all the dead/stuffed animals and some of it was just plain weird. We followed the museum by a visit to Jamy's Burger. We choose to have the fries as the burgers are kind of beast, but looked so amazing. I can't wait to take Frank there as he loves a really good burger. Really their burgers are like art and let's not forget the fries they were certainly tasty. Then we walked along the Rhein where we walked across a couple of the bridges before heading back home. The children really want to go back and play at the playground located on the banks of the river. Sadly it was getting to dark and had started to rain-boo! Well, I better go get dressed! Have a great day!
