Mt. Rushmore
Mt. Rushmore wasn't on our way home, but I figured we would have another chance to see it. One doesn't just drive through South Dakota unless you are on your way to Seattle from Atlanta and then one is more likely to fly. South Dakota was a huge surprise in how pretty it is. After Seeing Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse, we drove through Custard State Park. So Beautiful! I would love to go back. Sadly, we didn't get to see the Buffalos because they were located at the bottom of the park and weren't on our way. I would also love to see the Badlands which we also didn't have time to see. While the children enjoyed seeing Mt. Rushmore they were just so ready to go home. I can't blame them because I was too. My husband drove all the way from Kansas City to Atlanta just so we wouldn't have to stay another night in a hotel. It was a long day. Our summer vacation has come to an end and the children are back at school. Photos coming up soon on that. We had a wonderful summer. I am so glad we were able to do this epic vacation with the children.

Yep, South Dakota was a HUGE surprise to both of us and we loved seeing the buffalos up close and also the Prairie dogs!

Kudos to your husband for driving all the way from Kansas City—HOME.
Well, I was the soul driver on our trip out West as Pieter no longer can drive Interstate speed. Tough but so worth it. Wish I could have seen Utah as well...
Happy photos you show and no doubt those are fond memories of your epic family vacation!
Hugs,
Mariette
