Augusta

A couple of weekends ago, we had a three-day weekend due to all the teachers in our county getting vaccinated. So happy for them. Anyway, so we decided to visit Augusta. We have never been. Augusta turned out to be a little disappointing. I thought we were going to find a really cool little city and sadly I think the town has gone up and died. Don’t get me wrong there are still plenty of restaurants and shopping plazas, but the core heart of the city downtown is pretty much all boarded up. My favorite part of the city was the riverwalk area along the Savannah River. I feel like at one point in time Augusta was glorious probably in the 50s. I do hope at some point they get a major who is interested in revitalizing the city. Just east of the city across the border of South Carolina lies Akin. A very small southern town, but totally cute. We made the best out of it and had a good time anyway.
