Sprechen Sie Deutsch?

Years ago, when Frank and I first got married we made a decision we would do our very best in raising the our children bi-lingual.  My husband comes from Germany and his family still lives there we knew we wanted to raise them to speak German.  It hasn't been always easy and very much a labor of love with every Saturday during the school year dedicated to attending German School.  We are finally starting to see the fruits of our labor show off, but we also need to give credit to our children who have not given up and have worked hard.  Winston was awarded the Sprach Diplom Certificate this fall which is an award given out to German Speaking high school students.  They first must take a test, but if they pass the test then they are given this very prestigious award.  It is the highest honor they can receive and we couldn't be prouder of Winston.  Way to go Winston!

You are so right. Speaking a second language is invaluable. Learning a second language as a child is the best time to take on the challenge. Cheers to Winston on his skill and accomplishment. K...you must be very proud. Susan

Congrats to Winston! It takes dedication, when no one around in high school is making the same effort! Also kudos to you and your husband to encourage him in his endeavor! And who knows he decides to use his knowledge of German for a job later on:) Great event to share with All Seasons, Kelleyn! Have a lovely week!

Congratulations! I think it's great learning languages. And once you know one, they all sort of fall into place, one way or another...
That's quite an achievement to be proud of and sure that Winston worked hard at learning a second language. Kudos to him and to you and your husband for recognizing the value of your children being bilingual.
