An Afternoon in Cartersville

Just an hour north of Atlanta nestled in the rolling hills of Northern Georgia lies the town of Cartersville.  Surprisingly, we had never been to Cartersville.  The town is so cool.  The main street brings you back in time to the 1850's when the Cartersville became a town.  Named after a wealthy landowner and entrepreneur Farish Carter.  Lured with the vision of taking photos of the children in the cotton field which by the way were not planted this year, but were replaced by soybean we enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Swheat Cafe, enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music at the festival, and learned about our Native American heritage at the Etowah Indian Mounds.  We also oohed and aahed over all the old houses. I would love to go back and see the Roselawn House and Museum a beautiful Victorian house owned by Sam P. Jones and would also like to tour the Booth western museum.  I guess that means another trip to Cartersville.  If you are in the area, a visit to Cartersville it totally worth it.

I like the hut. Lovely picture of the three girls in front of it! I don't like the message of drinking Coca Cola, though.

That hut rooftop is quite unusual to my eyes.

Hello, sounds like a great place to visit. Love the photos of the girls, they are sweet. Enjoy your day and week ahead.
Looks like the girls also enjoyed this visit and I agree with an earlier comment that the hut rooftop was quite unusual.

I would have loved the bluegrass music. But not the Coca Cola. Those kids are just gorgeous, about the same as our grandkid girls - 7, 7 and 13.

I love the Red Coke wall, it's an excellent photo op for the kids.
This was a really fun post to read Kelly . We stayed in Cartersville (in a RV park) when we traveled through Georgia. Well, we had meant to stay in Atlanta, but the park we had chosen was full ... we were tired and cranky and the next place we could find was in this little town.... crabby when we pulled in, but the next day, on looking around, finding the Indian mounds etc, we were quite delighted to have landed in Cartersville. Fond memories. (With our home on wheels parked there for several days, we did drive into Atlanta several times to do the tourist bit. But we always said we were glad we weren't able to get into our first choice of park because had we stayed in the big City we would never have stopped to see all the charms of this smaller one.

Look like the girls enjoyed the visit very much ! The hut looks like the once you still find in Africa. Probably a "left over" of the slave area.

So funny that I just read this and I just got back from a trip to the North Georgia mountains yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to Cartersville but will have to go there on a return visit.
