A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That

This post is a random collection of what is going on in our lives right now, and while most are really just insignificant moments they are memories I don't want to forget.   As Vincent Van Gogh wrote, "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together."

Avery drew this sweet self-portrait of herself not so long ago.  I love how she drew herself doing something happy.  I am pleased that she drew herself brown and not white like the rest of her family.  I worry sometimes that I have taken her away from her culture and she won't know who she is as in this example where I played some Chinese Children's music and she said to me, "Mommy what language are they speaking." Oops!  Big parent fail.  I used to play it all the time right after she came home, but have stopped as we have been focusing on German.

I had the opportunity to try a new restaurant in town.  Well, not really new but new to me!  The restaurant is called the Grill Haus.  It serves Mediterranean food.  So yummy!  I had the lamb kabobs with rice and served with a garlic yogurt sauce.

The rain has really put a damper on our exploration, but it hasn't stopped us from having fun.  The other day the girls and I put this puzzle together.  Well, more like me as it turned out to be too hard for them, but they were good at separating out the border pieces and sorting the pieces out by color.

When the children and I want a taste of home we drive into the city and go to the Skyline Mall and grab ourselves some Kentucky Fried Chicken or Chipotle.  It was funny because the last time we went there were 4 or 5 other American families there.  One family drove three hours from close to the border of Luxembourg.  Wow!  Sometimes we grab ice cream sundaes from this fancy ice cream parlor.  Well!
