A Week in Florida

"School's Out for the Summer" played on our Apple playlist as we set the car in drive, pulled away from our home in Georgia, and headed south to Florida. We made it as far as Savannah before calling it a day. The traffic was a bear!!!! I am not kidding, and school wasn't officially out, but I assume many other parents had the idea to leave a day early too. The next day we continued on, stopping at Mickler's Landing to eat at Barbara Jean's and spend some time at the beach before heading on to Orlando, where we picked up Harris at the airport. I am so grateful he could spend Memorial weekend with us! Addy, Frank, and Roman stayed behind. Addy had a race on Friday, Frank had a case to finish, and Roman didn't want to go. C'est la vie! Barbara Jean's was as good as we remembered, but we were disappointed that they didn't have fried okra on the menu. The following day, we spent in Winter Park, a bedroom community of Orlando; however, I am going to post those photos in a separate post. We ended the day at the pool. On Sunday, we enjoyed a lovely meal at Texas Roadhouse, hung out at the pool, played a few games of chess between Ivy and Harris, and ended our day with some time reading. On Monday, we intended to go to DeLeon Springs; however, when we arrived, the gates were closed because the park was already at capacity. We asked the park ranger when they might let more guests in; he said about an hour, so we waited. After an hour and a half, we gave up. We were starving.  After lunch, we headed to Disney Springs to grab some ice cream, and then it was time to take Harris to the airport. He had to go back to work.  On Tuesday, Nana, Ivy, Avery, and I went to the movies.  We saw the Sheep Detectives.  It was pretty good. The rest of the week was spent enjoying the pool and catching up on sleep.  It was a very relaxing week.
