Fall Reading
Jennifer gets a phone call that her grandmother is in the hospital, and she needs to come immediately. What follows is a journey back in time that ends up healing Jennifer in the present. The book is set in present-day Lake Geneva and its surrounding areas. The story Sam's Letters to Jennifer is a quick, easy read. I found the storyline pleasant and hopeful.
I found the book A Hundred Summers on the bookshelf at the Goodwill. What attracted me to the book was the cover. Isn't it lovely? The book takes place in the 1930s in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhodes Island. Lily Dane, a socialite, attends the University of Dartmouth football game. There, she sets her eye on one of the football players. Things look hopeful for a while, and then suddenly, they unravel. What happened and why? The storyline was good, though I do say the sex scenes were a little too graphic for my taste. I hate that!
The final book for this fall is Good Energy by Casey Means, MD. The book is a deep dive into today's medical care system in the United States. Are we causing more harm than good? Are we looking at the overall picture of patients' health, from their environment to what foods they eat? Casey believes we are causing more harm than good as the medical system is not looking at what is good for the patient but their bottom line. If you have followed anything in Robert Kennedy Jr and his attack on the big pharma and food corporations, this book is for you. Well worth the read!
