Fall in North Georgia
Traveling along the roads of North Georgia takes you through small towns, farms, and forests. The trees are plump with leaves of gold, ochre, red, and orange leaves. The Blue Ridge Scenic route in the fall is just absolutely splendid. As I drove farther and farther down the road, my heart swelled and life returned to my body as if it was being inflated like a balloon at the country fair. We came to a town we had never been to called Hiawassee. What a glorious little town on the Hiawassee River, Chatuge Lake, and the North Carolina border. The girls and I stopped for lunch at Marina Station and enjoyed a lovely lunch. We wanted to go to the top of Bell Mountain, but I couldn't get the van to the top of the mountain. The incline was too steep. We will for sure be going back. After lunch, we drove further to Young Harris and Blairsville before turning around and heading home. We ended our day with frozen custard from Andy's. It was really a perfect day.
