An Afternoon on Ameilia Island

Hi!  Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  We went to German school this morning, and now we are hanging out at home.  It is freezing cold today in Atlanta.  I don't mind though.  As soon as I walked in the door I put on my cozy pajamas and turned on the fireplace. I even took a little nap! Then I watched a movie called Truth with Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett which is about a news story that was reported on 60 minutes about  Dan Rather and his producer Mary Mapes. They ended up losing their jobs. The movie was pretty fascinating and had me thinking about how much truth is really in what is reported in the news. On another note, I think the children are happy just to hang out at home today too!  The girls just watched a couple shows on Netflix and played with their dolls before I finally made them practice piano. Addy lost her first tooth last night, so the tooth fairy left her a couple dollars under her pillow.  She is doing cartwheels in my bedroom at the moment  It is one of her favorite places to do them because she has enough space. She has been begging to get her some gymnastic bars. I am on the hunt to get her some second hand. New including the mat, beam, bars run about a thousand dollars, Anyway, about Amelia Island, we went there about 5 weeks ago on our way home from Orlando. We stopped and had lunch at Barbara Jeans. The food is fantastic!!!! It is as southern as you can get! I had the chicken fried steak with cornbread and green beans.  Then we spent some time wandering through the old cemetery and historic district.  If you love old homes than Amelia Island is eye candy. The Spanish moss and coastal harbors don't hurt either so I am sure we will be finding our way back to Amelia Island again someday.

The first five photos reminded me of Alameda, which is an island, just south of Oakland, California. It once was home to a navy base. I wonder if island towns have a similar feel to them, regardless of which coast they're on.

Yep, I was digging that eye candy in the form of those glorious Victorian homes - wow. I always want to buy and live in one, but I generally can't handle the humidity in the places they are!

Nice shots of Amelia Island. Hope you enjoy this dull November month!
Amelia Island looks like a delightful pace to stop.
I want to answer your comment on my blog but don't have an email address for you and your comment was . During our visit to the Kibbutz we stayed in the Hotel Guest Rooms. A lot of Kibbutzim have hotel or cabins and they are usually really lovely for a short stay. Anyone can volunteer on a Kibbutz though. It is a great way to spend a summer or a year out. Are you thinking about it ? ;-)

I've been there a couple of times and loved it!
Thanks for the info on Amelia Island and the photos especially. I have a cousin who lives in GA and we're planning a visit in 2019, so will be sure to look up this place and the restaurant too.

Sorry, have been here before but forgot to comment! Looks like a fun adventure for a day or a weekend:) Am surprised Atlanta is cold right now. How cold does it get in the winter normally? Oh, one of my grand kids is the cartwheeling kind! Thanks for telling All Seasons about Amalia Island (new to me) and hope the rest of the week won't be so cold!

This island is a great place full of fun. Thanks for sharing. Seeing others blogs often takes me to a beautiful place I have never been. Thanks a lot.
Amelia island is beautiful! A couple of seasons ago, we spent a long weekend there (really mid-week because we're old and retired). I'd love to go back -- we really enjoy those 'old Florida' places and we love exploring our part-time state while we're there in the winter.
