Spring Break Day 3
Another week has come and gone. I finally feel like I am catching up on laundry and other tasks. After arriving home on Sunday morning, we were all able to get a couple of hours of sleep before Avery and Ivy headed out for a run. Monday, Addy had an orthodontist appt where she was informed that she should have her braces off in six months. She was thrilled. Avery and Ivy had piano after school. Tuesday, we didn't have any appointments, but it was a bit crazy getting the girls to and from running, and then we went to Ethan Jay's mission call opening party. On Wednesday, Addy had a track meet. She came in second place in the 1600m. Thursday, the girls had piano again, as I had to move their Monday lesson up because Addy will have a competition that night, and Frank is out of town. Yahoo for weekends, I did spend this morning cleaning up Addy's room as the cleaners were coming, and she hasn't put her laundry away in months. This gave me the opportunity to go through her clothes and get rid of things that no longer fit.
Not knowing if I will ever make it back to California, I wanted to focus on visiting a few places I have always wanted to go to, and Palm Springs was on that list. When I was a teenager, I read the book P.S. I Love You! Other than it being a teen romance, the one thing I do remember is that part of the book is set in Palm Springs, and the gondola is featured in the story. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway opened up in 1963 and takes you to the top of Mt. Jacinto, giving you a view of the Coachella Valley. The ride is super fun because, unlike traditional trams, this one rotates 360 degrees, giving passengers a complete view as they are transported from the valley floor to the top of the mountain. At the top of the mountain are some hiking trails, a restaurant, and a bar. We didn't eat anything at the top, but the food looked good. After taking the tram, we went to the Palm Springs City Center and found the Mexican restaurant our dear friend Betty had recommended. The food was so delicious, and we left with very full bellies. Then we headed to the hotel, where we spent the remainder of the evening.
