The farm "multicolored""

My Many Colored Days
Some days are yellow.
Some are blue.
On different days I'm different too.
You'd be surprised how many ways
I change on different colored days.
On Bright Red Days
how good it feels to be a horse
and kick my heels!
On other days I'm other things.
On Bright Blue Days
I flap my wing.
Some days, of course, feel sort of Brown.
Then I feel slow and low, low down.
Then comes a Yellow Day.
And, Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee
I am a busy, buzzy bee.
Gray Day...Everything is gray.
I watch. But nothing moves today.
Then all of a sudden
I'm a circus seal!  On my orange Days
that's how I feel.
Green Days. Deep deep in the sea.
Cool and quiet fish.  That's me.
On Purple Days I'm sad.
I groan. I drag my tail.  I walk alone.
But when my days are Happy Pink
it's great to jump and just not think.
Then comes my Black Days. Mad, And Loud.
I howl. I growl at every cloud.
Then comes a Mixed-up Day. And Wham!
I don't know who or what I am!
But it all turns out all right, you see.
And I go back to being me.

Our last few days in Seattle were spent on Bainbridge Island at a friends farm.  They were perfect end to a fantastic trip.  Thanks goes to my wonderful husband and my mother who held down the fort for without your help this trip would not have been possible. Thanks to my friend who opened her home and showed me love and generosity.

Seattle does not get it's name The Emerald City for nothing, it is truly green all year round   When my husband and I lived in Seattle we lived in an area of town called Green Lake.  Green Lake is a fantastic green space with a park and a trail that you can walk along the lake just minutes from downtown Seattle.  We were truly blessed to live in such an amazing location and just let me tell you rents in the area are not cheap, but when we were searching for an apartment to move into we met a fellow German who took pity on us and gave us an apartment way below market value  Now if I told you we only paid $600 dollars a month  you might not think that to be cheap, but it was because apartments in the area went way over a $1,000 dollars a month.   Many evenings were spent walking around Green Lake as a newly married couple and as a family after our first son Harris was born.  It was only fitting that I brought Addy to visit Green Lake and while we no longer live in Seattle I will never forget all the wonderful memories it holds for me.  On this visit we enjoyed a picnic with friends.  Green Lake is truly a gem in the Emerald City.

For the Love of Food "red"

I wouldn't be lying to you when I tell you I went straight from the airport to eat at a restaurant called Skillet.  I had seen Skillet featured a few months ago on the Food Network and ever since hearing about it knew it was going to be one of my favorite places of all time to eat.  It truly lived up to all the hype.  I had the Angus burger on a brioche bun served with blue cheese, arugula, and bacon jam.  You heard me right "bacon jam."  I honestly think I heard a choir of angels sing upon my first bite.  The combination is perfection of salty, sweet, and creamy.  The fries served with it weren't to shabby either.  I love when fries still have a part of the skins still on them. No ketchup necessary for this burger.  One will not go hungry in a city like Seattle.  Seriously the city has it going on whether you are a meat lover like me, a vegan, or suffer from food allergies.  Just about every restaurant we visited during our visit had options for those who must eat Gluten Free.  I don't know about you, but I think a cities food really says a lot about the city and so wherever I go I try to eat at the local restaurants and try to stay away from the chain restaurants.  So it was a hard job eating all that great food this past week, but someone had to do it.  Here is where I ate: Skillet located on Capitol Hill, Copacabana a Bolivian restaurant across the street from Pike Place Market, Portage Bay Cafe located in the U-District with my partner in crime and her family Jenna, Cupcakes from Cake Envy located on Green lake, and wished I had eaten at but ran out of time Maximus Minumus a food truck located and is shaped like a giant pig.  Next time!  Tell me what is the best restaurant you have eaten at whether at home or while on vacation.  Today's theme is red over at Francesca .

Seattle "Blue"

Hi!  I am back!  I had the most amazing 5 days in Seattle.  It was just what this mom of  4 needed to recharge her batteries and get back into the swing of things.  I don't know about you, but while I look forward to my children going back to school them being in school it is sometimes harder then having them be at home.  The lazy days of summer are over and no more getting up when you want.  Homework needs to be completed and sometimes they just don't want to do it. Like right now my oldest has to read a book and he is just dragging his feet.  I don't like being the mean momma who has to nag.  Then there is the stupid bus driver who thinks he rules the world and has to call me about every little thing.  He called me while I was in Seattle and told me that my son got up out of his seat too early and was in the aisle and would I please speak to him.  I kindly told him I would, but seriously!!!!  Anyway, what started out to be a grey day in Seattle turned out to be an amazingly beautiful day.  The sun came out and Seattle said, "Here look at me, aren't I gorgeous."  It couldn't have gotten any better.  Addy and I took a ride with my good friend and her daughter on the new ferrris wheel located on the pier near the aquarium.  Addy thought it was fantastic!  I can't believe summer is almost over and soon fall will be knocking on our door.  Labor Day is this weekend and for me that seems to make it seem even more real that summer is over.  We still aren't sure if we are going to stay at home or head to the beach, but whatever we decide to do I am sure it will be fun!  Do you have any plans for Labor Day ? Well, I still haven't unpacked my suitcase.  It is really late and in a few hours I will be putting two boys on the school bus, so I better say goodbye for now.  Stay tuned for more photos from my trip to Seattle.  Oh, and I am playing along with Francesca who is posting about different colors this week.  If you don't know Francesca you should head over and meet her.  She leads an amazing life with her three children and husband in Italy. See you soon!

Bedroom Makeover Part One

A few weeks ago, I began the mission of making the house seem more homey.  See the problem is that when we lived in our old house it was much smaller, so there was no room for a lot of extra stuff and to be honest I would rather just use the money to vacation with, but I took one look at our bedroom and I said enough.  Even I don't want to sleep in there!  My husband too be honest could care less.  All he cares about is he too hot or too cold and is the mattrass comfy.  Doesn't this bedroom look sad to you??  In the far left corner are side tables that we purchased a year and a half ago, but have never gotten around to building.  As you can see in the second photo they still aren't built, but hopefully I can get my sweet husband to build them in the next week or two.

Step One:  Buying new linens.  First I had to find some I like an pic a color theme that I like. I love the color combination of yellow and grey so now that I have the linens.  I just need to purchase some small throw pillows.  and look for some wall art.

Well, the room is not finished.  Stay tuned!  I am off to Seattle in the morning, to visit my good friend Jennifer and my grandpa who had a heart attack.  He is doing great and I am excited to see him.!  I will see you when I get back.  I hope you have a great week!

Corner View "Sun"

The last few mornings we haven't seen much sun around these parts of the states.  In fact, I can't remember an August that was so gray.  I am not complaining though.  We need the rain.  So, I leave you with a picture of one of my four lights of my life "Little Miss Sunshine".  She brings so much joy into my life.  I thank my Heavenly Father each day for the children he has given me.  What a blessing!

Monday was crazy! I woke up totally exhausted as Addy had woken up a gazillion times.  It appears she is getting more teeth this time on the top. Then I found out that my grandpa had a heart attack on Sunday afternoon and is in the intensive care unit.  I guess he is doing much better and is giving the nurses a run for their money as he is bored and wants to go home.

Then I went back to Zumba only to find out that a three month break means your muscles can't remember what to do and complain that you are subjecting them to working.  I am sore today!

The boys are on week two of school  It has been hard getting up to darkness each day.

After going to the gym, I went to lunch with a bunch of my girlfriends.  It was so nice to see everyone and  catch up on their summers.

Did you know that August 10th is national S'mores day?  I didn't until I saw it on a blog I follow.  This year we are going to try having a family night each week which is even more important now that the kids are getting older and our schedules are getting busier.  I made these S'mores in a jar found on this blog .  They were a huge hit.  Even my husband gobbled one down and he is not a huge dessert eater.  I liked them, but think they would be even better with some dark chocolate shavings between the layers.

It is Tuesday thank goodness and I am off to run some errands and go to the gym.  Hope you have a fantastic week!

Winston loves soccer!   When he heard that there was going to be another soccer camp in Butzbach he begged for us to let him go again.  This year he one a trophy for his team being best at the obstacle courses.  He is so excited to start playing soccer this year for a local team.  He can't wait!  Stay tuned to see him in action.

How was your weekend?  Did you do anything fun!  Did you seen the closing cermony of the Olympics.  It was the best ceremony of all time.  The Brits rocked it tonight.  I have been working on re-decorating our house.  Some rooms just need a few home touches and others need a complete make-over.  While I didn't leave the house this weekend except for church, it has been fun shopping through Etsy.  Have you ever bought anything off Etsy.  I think it is  such a great place to buy such individual and unique pieces of art.  I can't wait to show you some of the things I have bought.  Well, it is late and I better get to bed.  See you around this week.

Back to School

Today was the first day of school.  I was actually surprised at how smooth the morning went.  Roman got up without any trouble though I suspect he will be tired tonight.  He was also a little apprehensive about getting onto the school bus.  It is so hard for me to believe that I am a mother of a 8th grader, a 5th grader, and a Kindergartner. Now the house is going to be quiet with just Addy and I all day.  I sure her face will light up this afternoon when she sees them again.  All three of them seem to have really nice teachers.  I think it is going to be a good year.

Summer Bucket List

This past week has been totally crazy!  Since coming home we have been constantly on the go which totally explains the lack of  blog post.  We had an amazing time in Europe, but summer wouldn't be summer without our favorite Georgia summer time traditions such as Stone Mountain, Six Flags, and going to the movies.  This past week: I took two different children to the doctors for yearly check-ups, registered two children for soccer, went to see Brave and Avengers, went to Stone Mountain and then to Six Flags, made cupcakes, spent a few afternoons by the pool, went to dinner with my husband for our anniversary (I had the pan crusted tilapia), reunited with pancakes-yum!, then made it back to the gym, and spent a couple of hours at Target buying school supplies for the three oldest children.  That last one should be classified an Olympic event.  I totally had a headache by the end and was shocked by the $180 bill.  Thankfully, we are reusing last years backpacks.

Oh, Nana came and spent the night this week.  She also took Winston and Roman to see Diary of a Whimpy Kid, and Harris to see Batman.  I know what you are thinking a ton of movies.  Well, it is hot here in Georgia.  The temps have been in the high 90's just about every day  with humidity is is more like a 105 degrees.  Going to the movies is a great way to escape the heat.  Also, going to the movies is pretty expensive in Europe, so except for Winston who went to the movies with his friends when he was at his Oma's they didn't get to see any movies.
This week is looking to be equally busy as we have another doctor appointment on the calender, attended a birthday party today, I am watching a friends children so she can move, we have two open houses to attend, and a back to school dinner at Red Robins.  Then school starts on Thursday.  I am not looking forward to waking up at 6:00 a.m. to get Winston and Roman on the bus by 6:40 a.m. Roman is going to have a hard time getting up as he is my child who likes to sleep in.  I just think it is nuts, but there is nothing I can do about it because driving them to school wouldn't allow them to sleep in any later.  Well, I hope you are having a great weeks and are enjoying summer.  What is on your calender this week?
