The Solution

This is my solution to all the choas going around me. Are pregnant woman allowed to use the pregnancy card in order to get out of doing things. I spent the whole day yesterday scrubbing scuff marks off doors, walls, and stairs. Today, I must finish up packing, make a run to Home Depot to buy a light kit for the ceiling fan, finish scrubbing scuff marks, touch up paint along trim work in house, and then run to our new house to select blinds. I wish I could be the Samantha from Bewitched and just wiggle my nose and have it all done. Until that day though, I think I will just enjoy the strawberry cake my husband's mother has made. Hope you are having a less stressful day!

Here is the recipe for the cake portion of dessert.
100 grams of butter
75 grams of sugar
1 packet of vanilla sugar
1 pinch of salt
2 eggs
150 grams of flour
2 Teaspoons of baking powder
5 Tablespoons of Milk

Grease a large cake man with butter and dust with flour or use parchment paper to keep the cake from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Then in a mixing bowl cream butter and sugar together. Slowly add each egg and then add salt, baking powder, and flour. Then add milk. I don't know why the milk is added last, but that is how it is done. Bake for 20 -25 minutes till golden brown at 350 degrees. With a stick make sure the cake is finished in the center. Allow to cool and remove from pan. Then add fresh fruit and the gelatin over top. Our grocery store carries the gelatin near the strawberries, but you can also find it in whole foods in the German section in a packet along with the vanilla sugar. Can't find the gelatin mixture don't worry just make sure you eat the cake the first day. Enjoy!

It's Great Being 4 !

Happy Birthday Roman!
Super Heros Rule

The Super Hero cake

Josh, Roman, Peter, Tucker, and Josh, Logan, Kobi, and Andrew
Given all that we have going on at the moment, I kind of just wanted to just have a family birthday party this year since he had a big celebration last year with all his friends; however, he was well aware of his birthday this year. The last couple of months he as been asking me when he was going to be four, and who was coming to his party. How could I break his heart by not throwing him a party. He even choose his own theme of Super Hero's. It wasn't good enough to just have Spiderman or Batman, but he wanted all the guys. He turned 4 earlier in the week and was so thrilled. He ran into his preschool room with cupcakes in hand and declared he was four. It is so sweet to hear him say he is four in his sing song voice. Yesterday, was the real party and the weather was fantastic. We invited six little boys over. No entertainment necessary because they were more than happy just to play in our basement. After pizza and cake we spent some time outside blowing bubbles. The party was a huge success. Thanks everyone for coming!

Oma and Opa are here!

Oma and Opa are here! They arrived on Valentines Day! We are so happy to have them here. They came to help us move out of our house and move into our new house next week. The boys are so happy; especially, Roman who has a new audience to entertain and be entertained by. Another benefit of having Oma here is that she is cooking for us. On Tuesday, she made us roladen, spaetzel, guerken salat, and Marmarkucken. Yummy! I don't know if the boys are going to let them go home.

Here is the recipe for the cake:
2 Sticks of butter plus 2 tablespoon
4 eggs
a pinch of salt
a Tablespoon of vanilla
a 1/2 cup milk
200 grams of sugar or 250 grams if you like your cakes sweeter
350 grams of flour
2 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
3 Tablespoons of coco powder.
in a mixing bowl cream together sugar until the mixture is soft and creamy. Add vanilla and eggs one by one. The add flour, salt, and baking powder and mix then slowly add the milk. In a greased bundt pan add 2/3 of the cake mixture in the remaining add coco powder. If the mixture seems so stiff just add a splash of milk and mix. Then add the remaining cake batter to the pan stirring in the chocolate to create a marbling effect. Bake at 350 degree for an hour to and hour and fifteen minutes. Cake should be done in the center. Allow to cool then turn out onto a plate and dust with powder sugar. Whip cream is optional, but is very traditional for Germany. Guten Appetite!

Owl Be Your Valentine and Corner View Famous Actor

I don't know about you, but today's valentines are just not as cute as when we were kids. I kind of detest store bought valentines except for the convience of them. When I saw these cute Owl Valentines, I knew Roman and I had to make him for his preschool class. Aren't they just darling? I got this cute idea from Kathrine Marie Photography. This week in Corner View we were asked to pick our favorite Actor. Mine is Colin Firth. I just adore him. He is geeky but charming. I loved him as Mr. Darcy though he was a little arrogant. Though slightly stuffy in What A Girl Wants Out, I loved when he rocked out with Amanda Bines. My favorite was when he learned how to speak Portuguese to ask his love interest to marry him in Love Actually. Though I haven't seen the movie The Kings Speech. I heard he was amazing in that too. Owl Be Your Valentine any day Colin Firth. I read when he was younger he adored Doris Day. I think she rocks too! Well, it is back to bed for me. I have been suffering with a cold for the last 4 days. Thank goodness for Max and Ruby and Nickelodeon TV which is keeping Roman entertained while I rest.

Citizenship Award

Oh my! I am so far behind on my post; however, I am knee deep in boxes. Since we are going to have two mortgages for a while we are trying to save money by doing the packing ourselves. Not such an easy task when you have a family to take care of at the same time. I am about 1/3 done and we have 23 days until we move. Thank goodness my in-laws are arriving in 9 days. The children are so excited. We are too! Anyway, yesterday Harris received an award at his school for great citizenship. I am so proud of him. The teachers wrote he is so helpful to them and to the other students. I was worried about the transition from elementary school to middle school, but I guess I had nothing to fear after all. He is really thriving in his new environment and has really risen to his new challenges. Way to go Harris! On another note, I am going to have an ultrasound soon to find out the sex of the baby. What do you think I am having ? Pink or Blue?
