Jacobsbahn

The Jacobsbahn is so much fun. It is located in the town of Kronsburg, Switzerland which is about a 25 minute drive from our house. Kronsburg is one of the many villages that make up what is known as the Appenszeller region most famous to us Americans for its cheese. The boys had so much fun seeing who could go the fastest down the mountain. Jacobsbahn is very similar to Alpine Sledding; however, it is different in that you are pulled to the top of the mountain by a pulley system. even though Roman couldn't go on the sleds he enjoyed playing at the play ground. We all forgot to put sunscreen on, so we all came home just a little bit sun burnt.

Conney land

Today was another gorgeous day, and the boys and I headed over to Conney land. Poor Papa couldn't go due to a sinus infections and a bacterial infection on his face. It is not a pretty site. I wanted to post a picture on the blog, but he would rather just forget about it. Anyway, Conney land is an amusement park located in Lipperswil about 55 minutes from our house. It is for ages 3 to about 12. It was a little cheesy and a little outdated, but the kids loved it. The best part was that there were no lines. I think the longest the children waited for any one particular ride was 5 minutes. You can't beat that! It was also cheaper than going on the gondola at Mt. Santis which is another good thing. Winston loved the bumper cars, but now I know why driver license are not given to children-whip lash. Harris enjoyed the pirate ship and Star Wars rides, but these both made mommy sick. I enjoyed the dolphin and sea lion shows the best. We couldn't have asked for a better day and the Grand Canyon smiles on their faces when we left were worth a million dollars.

City Safari

Finally, the sun graced us with her presence for the evening and Frank took boys for the evening. I am not a photographer, but I thought it would be fun to go on a photographic safari of the city and see what I could find. Here are some shots from my neighborhood. Thank you sun for coming out. I needed it, and my waist line is thanking you.

After I took the photos I transferred them also into black and white to see what would happen. What I found was that some of the photos became more interesting like the bike, but others such as the Swiss Flag or the flowers lost something. I had a lots of fun doing this. It was great exercise walking through the city. I challenge you to a city safari. What will you find?

Happy Father's Day!

I love the this guy! He is the best. The best husband and the best dad. While other men are off fishing, golfing, sitting around watching sports on TV, or drinking a beer. My guy works six days a week to provide us with a really great life. He adores his children and spends every free minute with them. He takes them swimming, hiking, bike riding, six flags, Stone Mountain, and out for ice cream. He brushes their teeth and tucks them into bed every night. He has loved me through good times and bad. He encourages me to do things for just me-like girls weekends.
Happy Father's Day!

Soccer Fever

Go Germany! Soccer Fever is in the air here in Switzerland as it is all over Europe. However, Switzerland and Austria are the host countries for the European Cup 2008. The boys are busy collecting soccer cards and flags are flying everywhere. The part of city where we live looks like United Nations. Frank took the boys to the soccer stadium and they watched the Germany against Croatia game on the big screen. Unfortunately, Germany lost 2-1. At least they are not out yet. Hopefully, they can make a comeback against Austria.

You want a piece of Me!

Prayer

I am a total believer in the power of prayer. When Roman was sick, friends and family prayed for him. We felt so loved to know that so many people were calling upon the powers of Heaven on our part. Roman is now 16 months old and doing really well. We are so grateful and feel very blessed. I know that Heavenly Father could have completely healed Roman; however, he choose a different plan for us. We have come so much closer as a family because of this. We have drawn closer to the lord. Prayer guided the Doctor to have steady hands and to know what he should do in Roman's case. Thinking about this experience brings tears to my eyes. It also reminded me of another experience I had with the power of prayer when Frank and I first got married. About two months after we were married, Frank was hit by a car on his way to teach at school. He was riding his bike. I was working at the time. I remember when he called me and told me to meet him at the hospital. I was scared. He had dislocated his shoulder and thought he had fractured his hip. They drugged him up for pain. I didn't know what to do. I didn't have any family members to call and give him a blessing. They began talking about surgery. It was his hip. The shoulder could be set no problem, but they couldn't fix his hip without surgery. He couldn't go into surgery without a blessing. I called our good friend Mike. It was three in the morning. He came immediately and gave Frank a blessing. Shortly afterwards they took Frank to x-ray again to get more pictures. They couldn't find any thing this time. The fracture was gone. I know the power of prayer healed him. He didn't have time to be out of school. He was working on his PH.D. and had he had to have surgery it would have put him back tremendously. I was working full time to support us and wouldn't have been able to take off to care for him without losing my job.

Winston's Testimony age 6
I love the Savior because he helps me. I like to go to Church because I like to play the games in sharing time. I like that the Savior gave Joseph Smith the restored gospel because then I can live with my family forever. I am glad that the Savior died for me so that I can live with Heavenly Father again. I know that Heavenly Father is real. I am grateful that the missionaries who taught my mom and dad so that we can all go to church together. In the name of Jesus Christ-Amen.

New Employment

My sweet little baby has found new employment in being a full time mountain climber. He likes to climb the kitchen table; however, he isn't really particular and climbs just about on anything. When he isn't climbing it looks like he will take after his dad in working behind the computer, and in his free time he enjoys playing hide and seek. Now, I just hold my breath for the next 17 year or maybe more.

Zurich

Last weekend we went into Zurich for the afternoon. Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland. It is busy, noisy, and full of energy. We sampled chocolates and even Luxemburgerli which are little wafer cookies filled with different flavors of truffle cream. Very Yummy! I never get tired of looking at the lake and watching the boats sail by, or watching people as they sit alone the street cafes enjoying a great meal. Afterwards, we went to a colleges of my husbands company soccer competition. The boys had fun watching the players and eating the sausages. They even scored some water bottles and soccer bags.
